Damdama Lake - Poser Camels

August 23, 2015 by rohit ghosh

So I remember visiting this lake a few years ago and I really wanted to go check if it's still as beautiful as it was. Even though I can't comment on how it has changed, I did find a few shots there.

I obviously went to the lake to photograph the lake but stupid me didn't carry an ND filter with me so I had to resort to clicking other things around it.

I don't usually do edits with super punchy colors or HDR-like contrast, it's just not my style. But while editing one of the camel pictures, I had to push my sliders to extremes that I have never pushed it before and then I hit a sweet spot. A punchy vibrant high contrast edit that works great on the typical Indian colors. I decided to use the same style for all the camel pictures and I am really happy with how they came out. The two camels were definite posers.

The village men's family owns the camel and they were really excited to have their photo clicked. It's weird to think that, that moment was probably the most exciting thing they did today. Something out of the ordinary. They can find happiness in these little things.

I do plan to go back another weekend, this time with an ND filter.

I love RAW files, here is something to show their power:

Chicano Park

May 26, 2015 by rohit ghosh

When I think about the innumerable adventures I had in my freshman year, this one keeps popping up as a day well spent. We discovered Chicano Park while searching for places to shoot on Jason's desktop (jasontsay.com). This sudden decision to go visit this urban "park" was one that was well worth the hassle and kind of long drive.

It's a beautiful place painted covered with murals and graffiti. Surprisingly what at first sight might seem as vandalism by druggies turns out to be pure art maintained by the city government of San Diego.

A quick tour of the neighbor is a delight for street photographers.

Unstable Cliffs - La Jolla Cove

May 24, 2015 by rohit ghosh

This was a random day we decided to go on a shoot. Häagen Daz sundae on a Sunday :)

Those cliffs literally had an "Unstable Cliffs" warning on them.
